Are Online Spanish Lessons A Good Option?
Hi, my name is Heidy and I do online Spanish lessons. I have been teaching Spanish since 2018 and it has been an incredible adventure that has taken me way further than I could have ever imagined.
I actually settled more in this business during and after the lockdown period. This dark time in our lives forced us to change the way we socialised generally and it surely had a significant impact in education that has stayed with us even after we were liberated from the restrictions.
I think that being forced to use digital platforms and tools in education made people realise that it actually has so many pros that they outweigh the possible cons, which in my opinion are 0.
Starting from the obvious reason, you can literally be anywhere you want and you only need a device with an internet connection to take a lesson with your teacher. It saves you time and money because you don’t have to move anywhere to do your classes. Also, the variety of courses you can take becomes endless since you are no longer restricted to whatever is available in your area. Your teacher can also be anywhere in the world.
The second best advantage I would say is the time flexibility. I personally use google calendar to organise my lessons and my students can choose whatever time suits them best to book their class with me. This is why online lessons are definitely the best option for people who have schedules that change often or can be a bit unpredictable at times.
Another fabulous advantage of taking online lessons is the amount and variety of materials. We no longer use heavy books full of text that bore us to death. There is so much content out there in so many different formats, a lot of it for free, that we could learn almost anything if we put the right amount of time and effort into it.
Since there is so much information that we can find about Spanish language online, this also means that it is hard to know what to choose, so it can be a bit overwhelming.
That’s when I can come in to help. The first part of my job is selecting the best resources and building a good structure to learn the language from level 0. Over the years that I have been teaching I have done a lot of research trying to find the best structure and the best content to explain Spanish language in the most simple way.
I invest a lot of time in creating my own materials with visually appealing presentations that summarise the essential things about the language, using text with explanations in English, images and videos that make the learning process way more enjoyable and entertaining. These presentations are shared very easily via Google Drive with my students, who can download and use this content any time for their practice.
The value of these presentations and materials is included in the price of taking live lessons with me. I must add that I update them regularly as I am always looking for ways to improve the quality of my lessons. Having these presentations alongside my guidance and support you will get where you want to be with your Spanish if you put the work into it.
Moving on to the cons of online teaching, I must say that the only one I could think about before I was forced to change into this modality, ended up being just a preconception that proved to be wrong. I had the idea that the relationship and the bond with my students couldn’t be as warm online as it was in person.
If you also have the fear of missing out on the feeling of a real class experience just because it happens online, I have to say I felt the same and I found out I was wrong. Nowadays most of my students are people that I have never met in person but I feel as if I know them personally and have a fantastic relationship with them.
Choosing to learn Spanish with me means that you will no longer feel lost or alone in this journey. You will have a good structure to learn everything you need to go from 0 to fluent in Spanish, quality content and materials, plenty of resources for daily practice and most important of all, you will have me, a native passionate teacher to support you, motivate you and help you achieve your goals.
